Day 3 Mount Rinjani (3726m above sea level), Lombok, Indonesia

Bed at 8pm the night before to be woken up at 230am with a cup of tea to start a steep 3 hour walk to the top of the summit in time for the sunrise...
Pitch black, a steep incline hike and just 3 torches between the 6 of us.  It got to the point where we still hadn't got to the top but we could see the sun rising, my legs ached from the very tip of my cold toes to the strain in my thighs, numerous mini breaks and the cold (oh the cold, which i was most appropriately dressed for in a last minute purchase of football socks), giving up crossed my mind!!!

YEY....we made it

"errr its too cold my fingers are numb, i cant work the camera"
"oh well at least it proves I was actually there"

another blurry shot

after 6 months of travelling round asia, I thought a last minute decision of thick socks would be enough to keep me warm. With 0°C temperatures it was a just a little bit of a underestimation.

after spending 3 hours walking with just torch light, it wasn't until the sun fully rose until we could see the path we had taken to get there. The thought was rather scary

Going down was like sking on volcanic rocks, floored it on numerous occassions!!!

Just a 30 minute breakfast break and the hike down begins again.....downhilll

are we at the finish line yet

Mount Rinjani, DONE!!!
